Short-Run Big Results
The Connex 500 3D printer at BRI produces prototypes and test parts, but it also helps with production. The large 15in x 19in build table on the Connex 500 allows it to fabricate many smaller parts quickly and economically.
An industrial and marine equipment repair company needed 50 replacement knobs for out-of-production electrical devices. Building an injection mold for the plastic parts would take too much time and money. The solution was 3D printed knobs. BRI used ABS-like resin to fabricate 50 knobs in one day. With the strength and flexibility of ABS, the parts satisfied the performance, cost, and timing requirements of the job.
